Since we played in so many bars in our club adventures, I had to have a dance song in my repertoire. Prince always wrote those cool groovin ' beats so I wanted to emulate that 'No Boundary' creativity that he had. This song started out as more of an electronic disco number, but switched to hip hop, then to its final resting version, a funky dance song complete with horn parts and my first bass solo on an album. I wanted a sax solo on it but couldn't get a player lined up so I thought, what the hell, and gave it a go.
Come N Talk 2 Me
I get shy
But don't ask why
I get around
At times tongue-tied and bound
How can I make it plain to see
That I could use your company?
Why don't you come and talk to me
Baby, come and talk to me
Well, I have the notion
And you've got the motion
Say, when the music plays
How I love to watch your body sway
Oh it may take a glance or two
Before you catch me starin' back at you
Why don't you come and talk to me
Baby, come and talk to me
Why don't you come and talk to me
Baby, come and talk to me
I get high to the sky
I get low to da' floor
Let's throw away those 'No I can'ts'
Because it could happen by some chance
That we could fall into romance
Why don't you come and talk to me
Baby, come and talk to me
Why don't you come and talk to me
Baby, come and talk to me
