Nobody Believes You
Greg Timmons on lead guitar.
He played a really great fluid solo with amazing tones. I love it every time I listen to it. Just perfect for the song.
Coming from an agricultural family, I would spend my summers on a tractor. Back then there were no noise canceling earphones so I was left with only the thoughts in my brain. So if you ran out of things to think about, you were in trouble. Well, I started exploring the ‘meaning of my life’ on a tractor. I don't know if you can find meaning in life but you for sure can enjoy it. I often wondered what a change in philosophy would feel like. I had friends who were experiencing spiritual growth through various religions often in a newfound joy that would spill out in a need to share that feeling of euphoria. I admit that there was a change in their demeanor that was good to see. I thought about those people that are out there in the world trying to change the populace hearts. This is a story of that conversion.
Out of nowhere knocked a man at my door
A figure I had never seen before
Shoved a book in my face and he said, “Turn the page”
And this is what the old man read
“He who reads and those who hear the words of prophecy.
Heed these things for now our time is near.
Every eye will see in him the Glory of His Blood.
He who is and He who was and is to come.”
Nobody believes you, (Nobody believes you)
You’re so crazy and so mad
Nobody believes you, (Nobody believes you)
You’re just some crazy man
So I stood there with my mouth afire
Estranged in disbelief, I screamed “Liar”
Searing eyes held mine and this is he said,
“Trust me son, for someday soon you will be led.
You see you don’t believe in miracles, you don’t believe in truth.
You say you’ve got a hold on life itself.
But listen very carefully and take this book in hand.
Your destiny will become clear. I know you can.”
Nobody believes you, (Nobody believes you)
You’re so crazy and so mad
Nobody believes you, (Nobody believes you)
You’re just some crazy man
Well now I never knew a stranger could ever talk to me this way
And tho I thought I knew the answers, I would never feel the same
Now with the book in my possession began the process of a change
Out went the fury of my anger
Turn about, turn about, turn about, (He’s not the same)
the Old man and took it away
Now I look back on that fateful day
Without the threat of emptiness I felt back then
See me now without my skin and flesh
I’m so much more than what I was a way back when
I thought that there was nothing more than that which can be seen
Nothing more than that which I can touch
But lo behold the old man knew the flipside to the truth
Now I must carry on his words and do that much
Somebody believe me (Nobody believes you)
I’m not crazy (You’re So Mad)
Somebody believe me (Nobody believes you)
I’m not some crazy man!
