Back when MTV was in its early glory days, a couple of bands with videos that made an impression on me were The Police and Oingo Boing with Danny Elfman. The Police had such cool offbeat ska rhythms. Danny Elfman of Oingo Boingo had such a desperate unique vocal delivery. The two styles combined to create Desperate Situation. It's about a person in dire straits, reflecting on one's life and the unfortunate choices made, and then trying to change the course. Catch the old video version here or watch it below. It's fun to watch. My kids still can't believe its me. LOL.

Desperate Situation
I, I know
Fear steals the show
I, oh I, I feel so very strange
Somehow, somewhere,
there's got to be a way to change
Desperation, situation, alteration,
give me one last chance
Desperation, situation, alteration,
its my only chance I know
Why, oh why, did I have to look back?
And face inside, it brought an urgent cry
All the frames of my life they would all seem
Too distant if I close my eyes
I don't want this
I really don't need this
To face the music and take tomorrow
I really gotta hear it
You see the picture's starin' there before me
but it’s just so hard to change one's self
Damned futility
Frustration always got the better part of me
Why don't you, don't you laugh at the I?
'Cause all my life has been a comedy
Desperation, situation, alteration
Desperation, situation, alteration
give me one last chance
Desperation, situation, alteration,
its my only chance I know
