Revengeance - An I For An I
Thanks to Terry Belmore for another mean and dirty guitar lead. It is so awesome!
This song started out as a chord riff that I used for the verse. I wanted to make the song about the ageless confrontation of waring tribal factions that for some reason go on for eons with each side seeming to become victors and victims in a never ending struggle for control. In the end everyone loses, especially the innocent. We just continually try to eliminate each other. What a cycle of revengeance.
misguided are the few who escape under the ruse of night
Holy is their plight of celestial right
wicked, cruel and worse are the victors who now make their stand
brothers they once were thru out the land
some are dangerous men
hate will rise again
how can this go on?
Revengence - it’s an I for an I
Blinded by an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth
a rule for a sin, a lie for a truth
an I for an I and a me for a you
vengeance in their souls and metal in their hands
too bitter are their hearts to comprehend
hatred, fear and lust for another chance to settle the score
brothers they once were but now no more
enemies believe they can
crush the other again
how can this go on?
Revengence - it’s an I for an I
what have we become?
blinded by an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth
the strong for the weak, the aged for the youth
an I for an I and a me for a you
someday the hate wont seem to matter
someday the pain may go away
someday their hearts might seek redemption
please have mercy on us, for today is not that day
generations fade and victories have gone
and here we are again the lines are drawn
Glory Be To God, Is this really what all the Holys meant
a blindman sees that all this is wrong
(and the people said)
my Truth is truer than yours
time again to settle old scores
how can this go on?
Revengence - it’s an I for an I
what have we become?
blinded by an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth
the strong for the weak, the aged for the youth
an I for an I and a me for a you
