Deep In The Heart

Terry Belmore played all the guitars on this tune. It is some of his best work, From the phrasing, the counterpoint and the tones, he captured the feel and the mood I was trying to invoke. So cool.

I kept humming this bass line over and over one day. I laid the line down in logic and let it rest a bit while I did life. I came back to it and thought I would add a bunch of percussion and it started to sound like floating down a calm jungle river in the rainforest. To give it that wild jungle vibe, I added some ethereal synth patches and some tuned percussion for chord structure. I kept thinking about being deep in the heart of the jungle, hence the name. The direction I wanted to take was to make the lyrics an analogy of floating down an untamed jungle river, snaking its way to wherever, with all its ebbs and flows, and juxtaposition that with our spirit, mind and thoughts running wild across our consciousness. Good or bad, that's what makes us homo sapiens.

We are, we are the wild ones
Transcending wherever we go
Floating along blissfully on this endless journey
We travel with the flow

Deep in the Heart
Oh its deep in the heart of the sentient jungle
Where no one or no thought can be tamed

Here to start, mutating beyond, where to end
Barriers are there to overcome
This way, that way, which way to go
Forgotten is where we’re from

Deep in the Heart
Oh its deep in the heart of the sentient jungle
Where no one believes in reins
Deep in the Heart
Yes deep in the heart of the sentient jungle
Where no one or no thought can be tamed

Lost are we, consciously, daring and free
Never a fear to just be
This way, that way, Never to betray
Our spirits are gonna carry us away

Deep in the Heart
Oh its deep in the heart of the sentient jungle
Where no one believes in reins
Deep in the Heart
Yes deep in the heart of the sentient jungle
Where no one or no thought can be tamed
